Since the time of its charter in 1961, the Nicholls State University Alumni Federation has sought to foster, protect, and promote our institution’s welfare and strengthen the ties between the university and our alumni. By continuing to keep in touch with our alumni, we feel that we can have a stronger and more viable organization that will help to promote our goals. The Alumni network is over 57,000 strong!
Each year, the Alumni Federation sponsors a tailgate at least one away football game and at all of the home football games. The Homecoming Social, the Alumni Colonel Golf Classic, Graduate Expo and the Alumni Crawfish Boil are also hosted by the Federation.
Mission & Vision
The Nicholls State University Alumni Federation seeks to foster, protect, and promote our institution’s welfare and strengthen the ties between the university and our alumni. The Nicholls Alumni Federation exemplifies the true meaning and spirit of Colonel Pride.
The Nicholls State University Alumni Federation will strive to retain and increase alumni involvement, to gather support for the institution, and to raise community and alumni awareness of the university’s achievements, events and goals. To accomplish this, the Alumni Federation will promote awareness, both on and off campus; focus on customer satisfaction by providing alumni with value for their memberships; increase memberships and donations to both the Federation and Nicholls; update existing events and create new ones to generate funds and to engage our alumni, students, faculty, staff and the community; carry on traditions and create new ones to drive fundraising and awareness; build a stronger volunteer base to grow the reach of the Federation; and promote professional development for the Alumni Affairs staff, the Federation board and volunteers.
Commitments:
- We foster strong relationships between our alumni, students, and university.
- We engage our alumni in opportunities to contribute to the university in many ways.
- We promote Colonel Pride throughout the Bayou Region and beyond.

“I don’t think there was a person that he did not capture. It was his personality that he was a very giving person. He had a great quality of a listener. His love for Nicholls and the community was clear.”
– Former Nicholls President Donald Ayo, 1983-2003 (DIP ’54)
