One of the Alumni Federation’s most important programs is funding scholarships for our students. Each year the Alumni Federation awards two  Alumni Federation Upperclassman Scholarships to upperclassmen who meet the criteria of at least 60 hours of semester credit and a 3.0 grade point average. The students are awarded $800 for the fall and spring semesters. In addition, the F. Smith Knobloch Scholarship is awarded to a music major specializing in piano. The amount of this scholarship is $350 dollars per semester.

The Alumni Federation also awards two scholarships to incoming freshmen under its program entitled Alumni Federation Freshman Leader Scholarship. It is awarded to an incoming freshman who has at least a 20 on his or her ACT score and a 3.25 grade point average.

Our newest endowed scholarship is the Michael C and Christine P Bourgeois Endowed Upperclassman Legacy Alumni Scholarship.This scholarship is awarded to a High School graduate of a Lafourche or Terrebonne Parish High School or have a GED equivalency certificate, a full-time enrolled Junior, Senior or Nicholls Alumni Graduate student. The applicant must be in good academic standing, submit an “active” Lafourche Parish Ward 6 Voter Registration Card with the application and currently votes in Ward 6 elections,  and a typed 250-word essay detailing why he/she should receive the scholarship. He or she must provide two academic and/or professional references (References must not be related to the applicant.) There will be “priority consideration” to any Louisiana or USA Branch Military Member or Veteran, a Thibodaux or ED White High Schools Graduate and any applicant of minority ethnicity.

The Memory of Luke and Betty Ford. This scholarship will touch the lives of hopeful students and honor future generations of Colonels. Luke Ford Jr. (DIP ’54, BA ’63, MEd ’68), was the recipient of the 2015 James Lynn Powell Award, the highest honor awarded to a Nicholls alumnus. He spent a lifetime humbly serving his alma mater. He was a huge supporter of Nicholls and his goal was to give back to the university that he says gave him so much. Luke often said, “My professional objective through my years as a teacher and an administrator has been to help students both individually and as a group to obtain the best education possible. Students need to know that someone is genuinely interested in their welfare and progress.” Applicant must be a graduate of E.D. White Catholic High School or Thibodaux High School and be a full-time undergraduate student at Nicholls State University.  He or she must also have a GPA of at least a 2.5 overall at the time of application, and must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA in core curriculum in addition to a cumulative 2.5 GPA

The Debbie Raziano Endowed Alumni Scholarship, which was introduced in 2014, is awarded to one student a year at $500 each per spring and fall semester. This student must be enrolled full-time and be of junior or senior standing with a 3.0 GPA. He or she must also be enrolled in at least two university sanctioned organizations.

The Nicholls Alumni Legacy Scholarship, established in 2015, requires a student to have at least one parent who has completed a program of study at Nicholls (which can be verified). The student must also be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing. The student is awarded $500 per semester for the fall and spring semesters of the year awarded.

The Peltier Foundation Nicholls Alumni Legacy Scholarship was first awarded in Fall of 2016. To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, a student must have at least one parent who has completed a program of study at Nicholls (which can be verified). The student must also be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing. The student is awarded $500 per semester for the fall and spring semesters of the year awarded.

The J. Nannie Endowed Alumni Scholarship, was awarded for the first time in the Fall of 2017. This scholarship requires that a student must have at least a 3.2 GPA, have obtained at least sophomore status and be active in at least one university-sanctioned organization. The student must also be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing. The student is awarded $250 per semester for the fall and spring semesters of the year awarded for one year only.
