Kurt and Beth Risinger met in 1980. Beth shares, “Our memories of where we met are slightly different. Kurt remembers us meeting in Millet-Zeringue dorm when I checked him in for the semester. I say we met in Ellender Library on the second floor. He liked to sit at a table right by the entrance. He would look up and tell every girl that walked in hello. I asked if he would mind walking me back to the dorm when he left one night after studying, and of course he agreed to do so.” Beth and Kurt’s first date was on October 21, 1980, when he took her to a French restaurant in Thibodaux. The following October Kurt popped the question, and they were married on May 21, 1983. They will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary this coming May. Kurt and Beth have two sons who also graduated from Nicholls, Kristofer S. Risinger, (BA ’07, MBA ‘11) and Kevin M. Risinger, (BA ’16). Beth notes that they are “definitely a Nicholls family”.
