Corey Melancon (BS ‘16) and Maria Scull Melancon (BA ‘16)

Corey and Maria met at Nicholls during their first semester when they were both biology majors (Fall 2012). Growing up in Las Vegas, Maria had never met anyone like Corey, who spent his free time hunting and fishing. They both graduated in May 2016, Corey in Biology and Maria in Psychology. They have been married since October 19, 2018, and have a daughter, Elyse Rose, due February 10, 2020. They currently live in Shreveport where Corey is finishing his last semester of medical school at LSUHSC. He’s specializing in Emergency Medicine and they are hoping to be in Baton Rouge in the Spring for his residency. Fingers crossed! Maria works online as a curriculum developer for eLearning Academy based in Thibodaux. Maria and Corey shared that Nicholls was an incredible college experience for both of them and one that has defined the rest of their lives. Maria said she couldn’t be more thankful!
