What did your time at  Nicholls State University mean to you?

“Nicholls will always hold a special place in my heart. During my time at Nicholls, I met lifelong friends and colleagues from different ethnicities and different walks of life. Nicholls really helped shape me into the person I am today.”

What is your favorite memory from Nicholls?

“I have so many amazing memories of my time at Nicholls, but my favorite memory will have to be the moment I was crowned the 2016 Homecoming Queen. I remember the entire day was filled with Colonel Pride, fun, love, and support from so many people! My nerves were starting to get the best of me hearing the crowd filled with cheer as I walked across the field. I remember thinking, “Just breath!” The moment I heard my name announced, all I could do was scream and jump for joy! All the love shown from that day will be a moment I’ll always cherish.”

What made you choose Nicholls?

I’m from a small town in Louisiana called White Castle, and the tight-knit community of Nicholls instantly felt like home to me. I’ve always had aspirations of being a nurse, so once I did my research on the prestigious nursing program at Nicholls, choosing Nicholls State University to be home for the next 4 years was a no-brainer!”

What do you do now and how did Nicholls help you?
“I am currently employed as a Registered Nurse at Ochsner Medical Complex- Iberville Campus, and I am a travel Registered Nurse in different states all around the country such as Texas and California. I’m also currently enrolled as a graduate student in the Master of Science in Nursing at Nicholls State University to pursue my FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) degree.”

What would be your advice to current students of Nicholls?
“My advice to current students at Nicholls would be to make sure he or she utilizes their time at Nicholls. Your college years are the most essential years of your life. Therefore, step out of your comfort zone, and get involved in organizations or activities that peak your interest! Getting involved around campus will expose you to a diverse group of people that you can network with and learn from. This will essentially help you when it’s time to leave Nicholls and step out into the world.”

What does it mean to be a past Homecoming Queen of Nicholls State University?
“Being a past Homecoming Queen is definitely an honor and a privilege. I will cherish that incredible moment in time forever! I’m looking forward to telling my children all about it.”
